Help with SD Supercard - It just isn't loading

Well, I'm back with an update. Sorry I've been away so long.

I see another couple of people are having problems with this product - seems to me the build quality on these things can be descibed as "fragile" at best. I'm certainly not a fan!

Anyway, the reply from the Romman support email address was pretty useless - Hopebuy were much more helpful. In fact I'm not sure whoever picks up that address can speak fluent English. So I might let him off. Maybe...

My factory-fresh SD card was finally delivered... Aaaand it didn't work in the Supercard. It was a long shot anyway, but I would say I'm 100% certain the thing was faulty to begin with now.

So I've sent it back to China. I really couldn't be bothered arguing over postage in the end (after all I'd come through to get that far), so I paid out of my own pocket. IF it does make it to its destination and IF it is replaced with a fully-functioning SC, I'll let you all know.

I don't know if Analogduck is still around, but I'd like to hear how far he's got with his return.

The moral of the story? Wait for the M3...

So is it verified that the Supercard SD is not compatable with DS systems?

Radiator

Not officially confirmed AFAIK, but there seem to be a lot of problems!

If that is the case I will have to stop using mine with my DS then :(  (sarcastic    )

If it wasnt for the warranty sticker and the fact I am hopefull you could exchange yours I would say to try this if it wasnt working on your DS : http://supercard.mine.nu/forums/viewtopic.php?t=460
it was origionally my thought that your problem was from bad insertion - I actually put my SC SD into the DS just yesterday, and all it said was "option pack inserted", and when I took it out and stuffed it in again everything went normally.

Got a reply for kicktrading.ca and they have confirmed to me that none of their SC SD customers so far have had any defective SC SD complaints to them as of yet... and that it's to be expected that a few of pretty much any product will, in the end, reach consumers and be defective.

I like how you describe the problem in that thread as "bad insertion" - very diplomatic! What the guy is basically saying is that the build quality (on the CF version) is so bad that the PCB actually moves when you try to push it into the slot.

I did actually check this on my SD version, and it seemed to be quite sturdy. Didn't work on GBA or DS, but yeah, felt solid...

Glad to hear the Kicktrading complaints dept are having a quiet time. Hopebuy have actually said that they test every single unit that they send out, so it's quite likely that it was somehow damaged en route. All the packaging was fine and the SC itself looked minty fresh, but all it takes is a knock. Plus I suppose it's easier to damage the SD version as there're more points on the pcb.

TBH I don't think they're manufactured to a particularly high level of quality.
