sd cards...what does read speed mean?

Does it actually matter what the read speed is when playing the games or is it just when you do that initial boot of the game?  I am checking out this 512 Kingston SD card from circuitcity

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Kingston-Technologies-512MB-SD-Card-SD-512-/sem/rpsm/oid/136352/catOid/-13072/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

and I am sure it's read/write speeds are fairly slow (it doesn't actually give the specs on the site).  I am looking to only really play ds and gba games with my supercard.  Will this card be sufficient?  If not, anyone else have any other cheap suggestions?

Thanks

DeVS

Speed does matter for some games. Metorid and The Rub Rabbits for example you will notice lag when using a slow card. This one is cheap and 150x which would be perfect: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=BA21760

Do you really need a 150x? I can understand getting something better than a 60x because often those speeds they list are "optimum" but a 100x should be enough.

Never seen a 100x always se 60x and 150x. Price really is that much diffrent either way.

They have them all over the place. Generally though they aren't listed in that format. I have seen 80x though.

So the difference between, say 133x and 60x that noticible on the SC? I'm going to probalby get one off of Ecost, so I guess this would be nice to know

Anything over 60x you will be fine with.

"Read speed: sustained: 13.7 Mbits/s (multi-block read) / burst (one block): 20 Mbits/s

Write speed: sustained: 2.8 Mbits/s (multi-block write to pre-erased sectors) / burst (one block):20 Mbits/s "

Because its dirt cheap and I've heard that its good from threads around here.

Even if it is 50x...its still tempting because of the size/price.

meh...will the 10x difference between the minumum of 60x and the card's 50x make much of a difference? Probably YMMV, I know...
