Problem with using my Supercard (CF) for my GBA SP

My CF seems to be working normally; however, whenever I choose to play a game once I have inserted it into the Supercard, the screen is white and sometimes there is crackling sound. I've done a myriad of things -- from using the appropriate Supercard software for compressing and performing other processes on the ROMS to formatting my CF. To my understanding, this relates to patching and the firmware (I don't know what the heck firmware is to begin with). What may be the solution to this problem?

i didn't catch the crompression part, are you compressing your gba roms or not? if you are, the new patchers make the gba roms get white screens when compressed.

I can also confirm this. I couldn't get one of my old faves to compress and run.

With removable media, it hardly seems to matter. After all, GBA games are small to begin with, and they load a lot faster into SC's RAM when uncompressed.
