ive been reading around about sleep mode on devices such as superkey passcard 3 and datel max media launcher, i just wanted to know if i flashed my ds lite with flashme v7 would it support sleep mode or would i have to have a ds game cart in the ds slot when i want to use sleep mode ?

Thanks

kennyboy

yes sleep mode works after being flashed....but you still need a game cart in the slot for it to work

so i may aswell just use the new passcard 3 or superkey rite ?

Doing so will consume more power.

I heard that the passcard3 consumes a lot less power compared to the passcard2. Is this true? Can anyone with experience confirm?
Slite Polar White (FlashMe v7 Stealth)

What about the brightness control? There doesn't seem to be a clear answer on this. Does the latest version of Flashme support the brightness control on the DS Lite

Yes. It has done since V7. I'm not sure why this misinformation has come about...

i dont think your statement about misinformation is very informative

i flashed my ds lite with the non stealth v7 flashme and i dont have brightness control. the backlight is either on or off, and its impossible to see anything with it off..

EDIT: well it turns out there are more then one version of v7 flashme out. the one i used was modified 3/31/06 and it does not have the brightness control.
the 4/19/06 release has the brightness control fixed.

props to the author for not changing the revision to something besides v7. i think im just gonna go install windows 95 on my pc, oh nm, windows xp almost got the 2 os's mixed up

The power consumption on 3rd gen devices is negliable. The only downside is that it runs the risk of uploading unsigned code to the DS through a virus, but, that's unlikely. Your more likely to aquire one using Linux than a passme device. Saturation level isn't everything, especially since number of people using flashcarts on their DS is a minority.

the only missing feature regarding brightness control is the ability to choose different brightnesses when plugged in to your AC adapter.  As far as I know, this has not been fixed yet.  when plugged in, your DSLite will default to brightness level 4.

No viruses affect DS, it's malware code from DarkFader's bricking prog. It's seemingly pretty much gone... we all hope. MoonShell runs checks for it, so if you always boot your homebrew through MoonShell you should fine either FlashMe-ed or not.

The no-pass devices are all pretty much the same. Great for M3 & SC owners, not so great for EZ4 at the mo'. Oh, and the SK & PC3 support sleep mode, while the Datel MML doesn't. I don't think any of them consume more power than a DS cart... so it's not a concern as it was with the old PassMe 1/2 type devices.
