(yet another) SCUMMds thread...

Hello all,

Just got a few questions about SCUMMds, and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

First off, I noticed that SCUMMds will not work with compressed audio.  Currently all my SCUMM games have OGG audio (and I didn't keep backups of the original 'monster.sou' files) - does anyone know if it's possible to convert my files back to an uncompressed format, or is it a case of 'obtaining' the original audio files again?

Secondly, I keep reading that you can't use games bigger than 32Mb (256Mbit) - I think all my 'talkie' games are bigger than this, so how would I get them to work?  Or is there something I'm not understanding?

If it helps, I'm using a JAP DS lite, running Flashme v7, and using a SuperCard miniSD (with latest software + kernel) + 1Gb miniSD...

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to DS + homebrew, and would really appreciate any help or guidance!

You could convert your ogg files to mp3 and they will probably work with the  scummds 0.61.  Otherwise try converting them to wav, though this will make them larger.

I believe the 32mb limit is if you are compressing your game directory in to a zip file.  I use scummds 0.61 and play sam & max with speech directly off the card, and the game is over 80mb.

I don't think you can convert the .SOG files back to .SOU or SO3 unfortunetly, I am having the same problem, can't find some of the games uncompressed...
SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.

Thanks for the help guys, got it working now (although I have found a bug whilst playing Beneath a Steel Sky - I'm using the modified version, so who should I report the bug to?).

you could report it here, the gbadev scummvmDS thread, I think the maker checks it once in a while.
