I don't know.  That's why I'm asking.  I want to know how the sleep function is supposedly "broken" on the DSL v7 firmware.
Broken might not be the right word, but certainly flawed is.

For a P3 or SK you can just leave it in with your flashcart seems flawed, especially since the powerdraw on the P3 or SK is so neglibale is not going to be noticed by almost anyone. It's small enough no one has yet been able to confirm any battery loss time with those plugged in.

With flashme V7 you have to take out your cart and replace it with an original cart, so you must alwsys be having an original cart with you, whereever you go. Not so bad when you're at home, but sometimes inconvient when you just want to take your DS in your pocket and leave. Even if you do, its an extra hassle to dig it up and store the flashcard then.

If you have DS game in there, you can use sleepmode, but having one in pretty much defeats the purpose as its drawing out extra battery life. I've heard dummy DS cards work without sucking up extra juice, but i've yet to find anyplace selling them, especially flush DSL ones.

I'd like to see some research regarding the power draw of a Superkey vs. a commercial DS cartridge.  To me, there's really no difference between keeping a Superkey in the DS all the time as opposed to a retail cart, other than the fact that a retail cart has an actual game to play.

Also, I don't remember there being such an uproar about the older versions of flashme and the DS Phat.  IIRC you still needed a DS cart to make sleep mode work.

No one seems really that compelled to do a powerdraw tests with the superkey in it, especially after testing for in some cases i've read 5 straight hours unplugged with the SK/P3 in it.

As to the uproar, its mostly now because you have now a more viable passkey. The passkey 3rd generations draw much less power and don't require anywhere near the bypass methods that the old passkeys did. Since you either had to have a passkey or flashme, you always had to have with you a commerical cart. For the former, to get it to boot, for the latter, to use sleep mode.

Now, with the 3rd gen passkey devices, that is no longer the case. You don't need an original cart for anything when using a P3/SK, but you do for flashme if you want to use sleep mode.

I dunno about this phantom power sucking thing.  I get perfectly acceptable results using the Supercard, a DS game, and even wifi.

Does somone have some realistic statistics on how much shorter the battery life is with a DS game or passme device running?  I'd be interested in knowing EXACTLY what the impact is - or if this is a fabricated issue.

The site is still not back up.  Luckily we have two trusted mirrors provided by our members:

I guess tomorrow means more than one day to some people...LOL!

There is also the

GBAtemp.net's Guide to Flashme, Installation instructions

which includes all three v7 lite files (flashme, stealth, noflashme)

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=33481  here is that topic

Don't you know, tomorrow always means the day after someone, anyone, last reads it. :p

The site is up but it is not the lite version of 7 (well it does not say lite compatible like it used to before it went down). You also cannot DL files yet.

BUT, it IS back and that is a good thing!

I agree. I think it's just normal people over analyzing. No serious tech/dev-type folks have ever told us anything to support that theory.
