DS Lite Charging Sound?!

Well i got my Lite 2 days ago so i want to make sure i got a good product. So when i initially stick in the charging cable to the DSL the wall adapter gives off a high pitched noise for a minute, then it goes to a very low hum. Is this normal for charging? Remember this is only when its actually charging like when the left LED on the DS is on. Does anyone else here theirs humming or anything? Oh yea the power adapter is plugged into a 6 hole surge protector.

Not typical, but probably benign. Transformers in general will hum sometimes.

mine had a super high pitched sound too... but almost inaudible.. no big deal... probably attracted the neighbour's dog though.. heh.

I'm glad mine doesn't do that, that'd drive me crazy. You might try it in another outlet. Return it if it bothers you, but it's probably fine... sometimes transformers do audibly hum.

i got mine changed into 220v and just like sneef's but not that super, you practically have to put your ear very closely to the adapter

Sometimes when chargers make that noise it means that they are no good. I bought a wireless mouse, and the plug made that high pitched noise, and the unit wouldn't charge. Logitech sent me a new mouse, and said to throw the old one out. I took the charger from the new mouse and plugged it into the base unit for the old one, and it worked perfectly.

Might consider picking up a USB charger too. No hum there!

yeah. i'm using a USB charger anyway, since moving back to Singapore, since my charger is 110v and it's 220v here.. don't wanna mess with a stepdown.

I've heard mine humming as well.
In fact, it's humming now. It's not horribly loud, but it's audible if I get close to it. This is a regular DS/SP charger, BTW.

Well AMAZINGLY when i went to the store, the manager tested it and no sound was coming from it AT ALL. This was so weird, when i got home, i put in my my wall and its as though it was fixed. Maybe because the battery wasn't fully drained. I hate when you go to a store for a problem and then when you get there it doesn't do the thing its been doing for days :cry:
