Help needed - broken, not quite bricked DS

Hi fellow Supercard users,

Need some help.  My friends DS (light blue) has been killed by water!  The DS had already been flashed to v7 flashme by me and was working fine.  Then one day her sister accidentally spilled water on the DS while in the DS case which meant the DS console was submerged in water a little bit for a very short time.

The Supercard Sd is still in working order (tested in another console), however the DS console itself is knackered.  With no cartridges (DS or GBA) inserted, when you switch it on, you get a white screen briefly on the lower screen, and before the top screen comes on, the DS pwoers off.  Tried it with Supercard Sd in (also with Superpass2) and it powers down almost instantly.

What are my options, ie. open up the console and check hardware (I'm pretty good with handling circuitry so if there is this option...), a way to to force the DS to load (?), send it back to a local Nintendo dealer to get it fixed (it will be out of warranty as it's an import (bought on Ebay, sent from HK to UK)?

Any advice much appreciated.

as far as i know no matter how wet it gets the only things that can get damadges are the battery and the fuses, cant be sure though

happened to my friend's.. and he thought it was dead.  I said "let's just make sure it's not just the battery"... so we swapped batteries, and... it worked!

pretty amazing, if you ask me..  so, there is a chance that if the system got dried out properly, maybe a new battery would bring it to life..

Yep, pop 'er open and make sure its dry - then check the fuses and try a different battery. If it was turned on with water in it more can get damaged than the fuses, depending on what the water bridged...

I guess you could test out individual parts like the screens if you have a working DS to swap them into, and find which part(s) need replacing - should be able to get a mainboard or any other part for that matter through EBay.

Considering big N's service though, that is a decent option if you do want it fixed without the hassle - though it probably isnt a heck of alot more to just get a DSLite new.

Cheers guys.  I do have a couple of spare batteries - whicih I'm sure I have tested in the DS, but can give it another go.  I have a spare DS as I got a new Lite recently, so the option to swap them about is good :)

The best thing is, my GF is getting a Lite replacement in about 2-3 wks by her sister who got the DS wet, so if I can get this one working, it will be a bonus :)

Hopefully, there is not much damage as I'm sure they had switched it on when wet so other parts of the circuitry would have been bridged :(

No luck :(

Tried with another battery.. same thing.

Can anybody provide a link with pics of where the fuses are located and how I would purchase said fuses if they are the problem?

Thanks.
