ScummVM and Flashed DS

I have a flashed DS with a Supercard (latest firmware) and I was wondering if anyone's gotten ScummVM to work on theirs. I've tried a bunch of different loaders and tricks but all I come up with are white screens.

Anyone have a step-by-step to help me get started launching it on my SC?

1) zip up game data files in a no compression zip named scummdata.zip
2) run builddata.bat - out pops a .ds.gba file (15mb)
3) ...

here's where I get confused. do i append a loader or just change it to .nds or what? i've tried both renaming to .nds and appending ndsloader.bin and both just end up with white screens.

any ideas? thanks for the help!

edit: or is this just not possible at this point in time? it is technically homebrew after all, i've just seen conflicting posts that say no, you can't run this.. yes, you can run that.. etc.

hey...

well, after you get your ds.gba file from buildata.bat, you can simply rename it to .nds

no need to go through pme2nds or anything like that.  the ds.gba file is correct in structure, but your supercard needs to see a .nds file (or the proprietary nds.dsi)

I'm not sure why it's not working for you.  unless i'm not reading your steps correctly.

it works for me with monkey island.  cant get indiana jones to work but i haven't tried the latest scummvm revision.

draconic

that's what i do. i've tried day of the tentacle, and monkey island 1, zip 'em up (no compression in tugzip) as scummdata.zip, place in scummvm dir, run builddata.bat, rename the ds.gba to .nds, upload to my compactflash, boot through wifime, run the .nds - all i get are white screens.

it's kinda frustrating 'cos it should work perfectly. i'm doing it right, yeah? should i try another zip program?

sneef

you're doing it correctly.  I use winrar, setting it to no compression (i think its archival mode or something)...

but you mentioned booting through wifime... I'm using flashme (used to use passme) and it works fine.. not sure about wifime because i don't have a compatible wifi card.

draconic

no dice. tried winrar on the Store setting, same thing. white screens. :/

the flashme stuff booted just fine, why is this giving me so much shit? :(

edit: tried something really simple, and even darkain's dspaint doesn't boot. i don't know what the hell i'm doing wrong, cos like i said, flashme worked just fine. :/

Dudu.exe

do not use the .gba ... the file has to be .NDS

****

edit the BUILDDATA file

THIS

@copy /b scummvmcode.ds.gba+scummdata.zip scummvm.ds.gba
@echo Done!
pause

****

MUST BE

@copy /b scummvmcode.ds.gba+scummdata.zip scummvm.nds
@echo Done!
pause

should work... at least work to me!

Remember, ROM sizes on the SC are limited to 256Mb (32MB) and ScummVMDS doesn't support mp3 compressed audio (monster.so3).

If you're trying to play Day of the Tentacle, this is most likely your problem. (I managed to find the floppy version of Sam & Max, which is small enough and works near perfectly.)

Note: The lastest version (0.3) can play full-sized games, but only from the GBA Movie Player.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

I've got day of the tentacle working.... speach is a bit off, but it runs.

Unfortunately, unlike the ball, people do not bounce.

LargePig

I've got it working fine with MI1 and 2 and DOTT, but the sound is really quiet :( I've turned up all the volumes, still too quiet.

man, i need to get that.   monkey island in my pocket?  that is the shit.
