Did you use primer or something else ?

I didn't primer at all

This is what I did.

first, get this: Krylon Black Spraypaint

Set the 3 pieces on newspaper.
Give each piece a light coat.
Do a light coat every 30 minutes (id give about 4).
Before you go to bed, give it a heavy coating and wait until morning.

The heavy coating should have made it glossy.
Make sure the spraypaint you use has "glossy" in the title.
