Superkey and download play

Hello everyone. I would like to know if download play would work with:

Flashed Nintendo DS and a Supercard
and
Not flashed Nintendo DS with a Superkey.

I know the superkey replace flashme and only a flashed Nintendo DS can work with download play with another flashed ds and a Supercard.

so I was wondering, would it work with a superkey instead of flashing the other DS?

thanks if someone has an answer. I would test it but I don't have an unflashed DS.

Musulsa

No.  What you propose will not work.

However using the hardware you listed you can play wifi-download games.

1) Put the Superkey and the Supercard in the nonflashed DS.
2) Send the game to the flashed DS.

Actually, most single card games work fine from a flashed->flashed DS and nonflashed->flashed DS, but don't work from flashed->nonflashed DS. Mario Kart and FIFA for example.  I don't have a Superkey to test with but nonflashed->flashed works with Passme/Superpass.

I think with the event of devices such as superKey we need to update the description of whats happening with Download play
At the end of the day its not hosting from flashme that causes non-flashed ds download to fail.
Its the use of a superCard (well any flashCart).
When using superCard, either due to the ripped rom image or using the  exploit to run from GBA slot I dont know which, an invalid RSA code.

Thus a simple catch all description would be:

SuperCard -> Non-Flashed wont work
SuperCard -> Flashed works

KK

edit- well, I say a simple catch all but there's always exceptions. A few games apprently dont use RSA, such as StarFox, and will work when sending to a non flashed.

Let me try to clarify.  If a non-flashed DS + supercard + superpass hosts a single card 'download and play' game to a flashed DS + supercard, it will work for most games. Mario Kart and FIFA for example. Yet 'download and play' will fail when the game is hosted in the opposite direction.

ImmortalNinja

Yup that seems to fall under my catch all :)
Although you dont really need a supercard in the flashed DS, if you had that you might as well to cart to cart multiplay.

Yes, but you seem to be missing this point . . .

Non-Flashed DS+SuperCard+pass -> Any DS configuration (with most games)

ImmortalNinja

Nope
wont work if you have two non-flashed ds
SO NDS/SuperKey -> Non flashed fails
as will NDS/SuperKey -> flashed
                               -> non-flashed.

Exactly.  That was my point.  If there is only one Superkey and Supercard then the receiving end MUST be the flashed one.

Strange, I tried polarium (real card) from both my flashed phat DS > non flashed NDSL (black :P) and the other way round and it worked fine.
I'll try with the SC later.

Okay tested:
Flashed DS (real card) --> Non Flashed DSL = works
Flashed DS (SC&G6lite)--> Non Flashed DSL = works
Non Flashed DSL (real card) --> Flashed DSL = works
Non Flashed DSL (SC&G6lite + superkey) --> Flashed DSL = works

So I felt no need to test Flashed/SC/G6lite --> non-flashed+SuperKey as it is not needed for me apparently.

Well perhaps the problem isn't with Flashme or Supercard then, rather the problem is with patching (changing) ROMS? I thought this was a logical explanation . . .

Quote from: "davr2"Have you tried playing with the original game (instead of a rom)?
DS without flashme verify the signature on all download play games. Patching tends to change the file, thus breaking the signature. Thus flashme is not causing the problem, your rom is.

I don't think that is entirely correct.  Most single card games work fine from a flashed->flashed DS and nonflashed->flashed DS, but don't work from flashed->nonflashed DS.

What I said still holds true in this case. The signature verification is only done on the recieving DS, not on the sending DS. In the first two cases, the recieving DS has flashme, thus does not verify the (broken) signature. In the last case, it does not have flashme, thus it aborts when it recieves a download play game with a broken signature.

Multicart play will generally not be affected, because in that case you are not going through download play, thus no signatures are being checked.

What game doesn't work? Then I can test it (if I own it).
Btw, unless you trim the rom, the download play image shouldn't change (I would say).

bitblt

Mario Kart and FIFA using 'Download and Play' for example.

Sadly I can't test nonflashed --> non flashed (or with G6lite, I could only test with SC-SD).
But indeed, it doesn't want to work (passcard3 or not).
