Is it normal when you put gba in DS system and the screen turns into small screen??  the gba sp is better and big than DS screen for gba games.

In two words: Uh huh.

But you have to remember, the DS is a DS first and a GBA second.

You should be grateful that we even HAVE GBA backwards compatibility. Beggars can't be choosers.

It turns into that because the DS screen has a higher resolution than the GBA (more pixels to cover for a DS game).  It "boxes in" the GBA screen when it plays on the DS.  Nintendo was too cheap to do any sort of "upscaling" in hardware.  
Doesn't matter much to me.  The DS has a bigger battery and the screen is amazing compared to the GBA:SPs.  If you think that sucks, wait till you see the Gameboy Micro.
