JPN NDSL

ohhhhh boy... can't wait for a DSL SC.

tennisgy

maybe theyll fix Opera!.....then again probably not
360 iXtreme 1.5 E74
Supercard DS One nonSDHC-2GB-Black DS Lite

Thundrestrike

and then again... why not?
It's been taking a while :D

To those saying a GUI would slow things down...
By how much? it would probably only take a millesecond longer to load two pictures for the top and bottom screen

I, on the other hand, would like a better GUI 8)

An improved GUI.  Flashy graphics arn't neccessary.  But using both screens and automatically sorting out the files  would be a huge improvement.

I am very happy with the gui the way it is now.
In fact, I own an M3 sd as well and that I leave it for my younger brother to use, and I only claim it back when I need to play GBA games.
In fact, I almost hate the M3 for it takes first a couple of second to load the gui while that bothersome message is displayed, then I have to wait for the game save to back up to the SD and then I have to fiddle around within folders to look for the game I like to lunch.
Don't missunderstand me, I love my M3 as well, only I prefer the 'straight forward filosofy of the supercard.
In fact this is what i mostly use. And I like the fact that in NDS mode you see only .nds files, and in GBA mode the rest of the files, this way you don't need separate folders that you have to search trough while looking for a game.
The only improvements that I would like to see are for sure better compatibility, and maybe a file sorting system and the use of both screens.
In fact sometimes I use the files sorting utility and a couple of times my SD card got all messed up, that's why it would be nice if the Supercard would display the files in order for me.
Other then that , I am really happy with it.

First issue, as usual, is new title compat.

HM: DS is a biggie, ditto Star Wars.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

I'm sure these two games are at the top of the list. If you can't wait though, there were two patches released by ratx (?) that will allow you to play them on supercard they are

Harvest Moon http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6220&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45

Star Wars http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6109&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=harvest+moon+patch&start=120

Yes and no.

No, ratx did not hack the ROMs and get them working with Supercard. My guess is someone on Romman's team unofficially released working ROM's because people started freaking out about having to wait for an official release in October.

What ratx did was solve a problem with people requesting these unofficial ROMs in the forums. So ratx was clever enough to use a utility called bsdiff to generate a difference binary between the clean dump ROMs and the unofficially released working ROM's.  Then ratx took the difference binary and packaged it with the bspatch utility as an unofficial patch release.

Distributing these difference patches does not break the rules of ROM file sharing on the forums.  Good thinking ratx.

xbman

I have spoken with Romman as well and he told me the same thing a few days ago (specifically a new update would be available soon). I also had conversations with him regarding getting CHT (cheat) support for NDS similar to M3's support now that the action replay is available for the DS. At the time I provided him with a bunch of information regarding action replay anc CHT and he did say he would look into it and thought it would be a great addition to the supercard. However when I mentioned LSW and Harvest Moon not working (part of my inquiry about an update) I also asked if he had any update on adding the CHT support. Unfortunately he gave me the same canned response in that an update would be available soon - no specifics on what it might address and/or include.

So for those wanting to know about an opera patch and other fixes / enhancements chances are you won't get specifics on what the update will contain until it actually is released.

I have spoken to Romman quite a few times in the past as well as through IM and he has been pretty good with responding (I imagine he gets tons of emails). One thing to keep in mind if you do email him - if you email him basic questions like when will a new update be available chances are you won't get a response. But if you email him regarding a problem (i.e. non working rom) he will reply. He does not visit these forums so he is not aware of non working roms as soon as everyone else in the scene is - so he does appreciate that information and when providing him with that it tends to speed up the update process.

The_Legend

well, since there's a patch for the 2 "non working" games on the Supercard (I can't play Ultimate Spiderman myself, it locks after the first intro screen), the only reason I can think that it's taking so long for an update, is that Romman is working on something new for the next software / firmware. maybe it's a new way to load games, maybe a GUI improvement, but this update taking this long makes me think that it may come with more than the support for those couple of games.

Critical_Impact

You know if he releases new firmware just for the 2 non working games I'm going to be really really disapointed

meangreenie

I'll be very dissapointed if the menu gets gayed up.

No 'pretty pretty' icons please, or gay touch screen navigation !!!

FAT32 sometime this year would be nice as some of us CF users are eyeing those 8 giggers dropping in price ;)
Yes I'm mad

ImmortalNinja

Umm,
whats wrong with the current GUI??
Its perfectly functional and is one of the quickest to get games started, esp when you know where in the list your game is.
I wouldnt like to use touch screen to navigate as I find the d-pad button combo much easier and faster.
Icons are nice and make it easier to identify games but not necessary so maybe that can be optional.
My greatest request would be drag and drop on to the patcher and able to toggle options without having to right click.
So a horizontal tick list next to the game name.

The only thing I would want changed about the GUI is instead of having to keep tapping up and down to move down through the files. I would like one where you could just hold down up or down on the d-pad and it would move through the files.
