Superkey quite simply, Takes the DS's request to look for a game, and moves it down to the GBA cartridge slot. So it finds the game there, instead of in the DS slot. Passcard is the same thing, different name.

They are generally used with GBA Flashcarts such as Supercard, M3, G6 and others which have DS games stored on them. The DS looks for games in the DS slot naturally, finds the Superkey/Passcard which tells the DS 'Games not here, look lower' and the DS finds the games on your Supercard for you to play.

That's about the simplest I can put it.

(PS, A Superkey/Passcard can be used to 'flash' your DS. Quite simply, you replace the DS's firmware (like it's Operating System) with one just like it, but it has the coding of a Superkey/Passcard written in it so you don't need the Superkey/Passcard anymore.)

Read the guide mentioned and search the forum.  This is answered in detail in many places.
