I just purchased a Supercard SD for my wife's GBA SP to replace her XG Flash 256mbit.  Would using a large SD card (2GB or so) cause slow downs?  Should I just use a 512mb SD?  I understand it doesn't matter what speed of card I get since the bottle neck is on the Supercard itself.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  Thanks.

no, GBA games are loaded into the Supercard's memory, only DS games are run from the SD card. The only slowdowns will be caused by the Supercard itself and not by the SD Card.

I believe the max officially supported is 2GB, though I do believe some might have reported 4GB to work, but do not quote me on that, so I would not guarantee it.

So is it best to purchase fast SD cards then?  Just in case my wife upgrades to an NDS?  But I'm thinking...by that time, the fast large SD card prices would go down even more and I'll just wind up spending more on memory now that she can't use to its full potential.

Right now I see an Ultra 2gb 133x SD for $19.99 after $30 rebate from zipzoomfly.com...but the rebate part is what's stopping me from buying this...I just hate rebates.

If your wife purchases a Nintendo DS, it would probably be the DS Lite :) in which, you may want to make the plunge to a Lite model which uses different memory cards, known as Micro SD.
