hi ive just went to play on ds when i noticed what looks like a scratch under the top screen the scratch is visisblewhen turned off and atthe top and bottom of it arelarge black patches the scratch and the patches dont light upwhen turned on. the dark ptches look like liquid gas been spilt on it. can anyone help?

Sounds kinda to me like you sat on it haha! But none the less it does sound pretty broken. If you have a warranty on it try taking it back to the store or call up nintendo and descrbe to them your problem. Never know.

Sounds like you cracked the LCD. Is it a DS phat or a DS lite?

That sucks, I don't know if it is worth replacing or not. I once looked into it (curiosity only) and i think the replacement screens were between 28-40 ish range.

This tutorial on how to dismantle may help you http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5098 if you are a little mechanically inclined. If not maybe look into someone on the site to repair or authorized repair service.
