Trim rom works by removing "byte padding". What this means is that ROMs are made bigger to fit the next power of 2 number (8,16,32,etc.) : so if a ROM is 33 Mb in size, it must be padded to 64Mb with zeros and trimming removes that "extra" stuff. Still, some ROMs are so close to those numbers (imagine 31Mb) that trimming is not that much of an advantage. Also, it can be a future copy-protection scheme.
he Internet is a series of tubes. :D

I've been trimming all of my ROMs, and they work perfectly.  I save quite a bit of space by chopping off the extra dummy data, too.  Think of it like this: if you can only fit 10 games on your card untrimmed, trimming them all would allow for one more.

Don't know if it got fixed with 2.56, but 'Open Season' with 2.55C is the only rom I have ever known not to work with 'trim' on SC
Yes I'm mad

My copy of open season is trimmed and working. You need to check out the Supercard compatibility list. It has all the info needed for compatible issues with SC.

it also says that metoes is trimmable.

How much you can trim off really varies from game to game. From nearly nothing to less than half size.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

i dont think you can go less than half or a different rom dump size would have been used.
meteos works
