I noticed this and wondered if it might work with the Supercard....

I know next to nothing about Bluetooth... but my thinking was that if this adaptorr could in some way emulate local storage (like the a normal CF card) then you could....with the range of say a laptop or PC... have masses of storage available for Roms.... then you would load them wirelessly through the Bluetooth/CF adaptor....the Supercard..... and onto the GBA....

OK it's not much good if you are away from your PC or laptop...but I'd be interested if anyone who has experience in Bluetooth could confirm if this might work.

Cheers

I have a Bluetooth adaptor for my notebook, and it basically shows up in the device manager as a network adaptor and serial port.  It's a nice thought, but not only is BT quite slow (about as fast as a 56k modem,) it's also kind of a power hog.  Imagine trying to load a 256Mb ROM over a 56k modem and you'll see why I'm not interested.

I WOULD be interested to see if a Compact Flash to Secure Digital adaptor would work.  I have several SD cards for my PDA and MP3 player that I wouldn't mind using in my GBA.

Yup.... indeed....

As I said it's not really an area that I know much about... but I have just setup my mobile phone and laptop to use Bluetooth...

On the laptop I have various services available including network support... but the phone only allows basic file transfers for sync'ing etc.... and also at a serial port speed of about 115kbps.... I might not have it configure correctly though....so still need to play.

However there are USB Bluetooth adaptors (and maybe the CF one is the same) that will with full speed 700+kbps Bluetooth access be seen in the same way as a network drive might work.... I think??? maybe this is where the Supercard could come in!! :)

not a bad idea, but aren't most SD cards rather small in capacity?

Thats another idea I had...a few weeks ago... though in my case it would have been CF to XD Picture card adaptor.... I didn't want to risk buying the adaptor though to then find it didn't work....

I have 2x 256MB, 1x 128MB, and 1x64MB SD cards.  I know they're available up to at least 1GB, so no worries about capacity.  CFMs are available in larger sizes, but they are on the way out.  I do think what we will see more of in future are Micro-Drive type HDDs, like in the iPod Mini, etc.
