I basically dropped my DS 2 inches and the touch screen misaligned, and now I have my DS lite opened up with he alignment problem fixed... but NOW. I can't re-insert a data cable...

i only know about the ds phat, but as far as i can remember there is a clip that you have to push out with a screwdriver, put the cable in then push the clip back in which mushed the cable further in

I actually just got it, and it's exactly what you described it as! My DS is now back together and working again! Thank you for your help DS (Devil Spawn)

EDIT:
Actually, that specific ribbon connection is not supposed to be removed because it doesn't have a slide clip like the other ribbons. If your touch screen is still working then you are lucky.  If you run into problems then your best bet is to do the WalMart swap and return for cash.
