I don't know if this has been talked about already (I did chack the last couple pages) but is the thing with the new SuperCard (Rumble) where it can only play .nds a hardware thing or a software thing?

I'm thinking about buying SC Rumble.

im thinking its a hardware thing, i think someone mentioned they took out the sram that the gba needs, which explains why its cheaper than normal sd.

Well that's stupid... I don't see why they'd need THAT much room for a little piece of plastic. Anyway... I might still get one, but I think I'll wait and see if they update it to where it supports the formats that the regular SC does.

(PS. That was CHECK not CHACK! :) )

i dunno if they removed the ram, because it allways loaded stuff to the ram when you load homebrew, dunno though

gopherbob

removing the sram cuts down on price and adding a gimmick like rumble makes it sound all the better.

If you think about it from a business standpoint in the coming weeks theres going to be the ds-x and acekard(sometime in future) so they are probably trying to make the product cheaper so someone will say "hmm supercard lite with rumble 30 + 25 passcard or ds-x 130 dollars"

no gba support also makes it more similar to the functionality of the ds-x.
just without the clean rom support....

i'm sure i'll eventually buy one though but for now im going to just go with the supercard lite.

ps... if you havn't read about the rumble... it is enabled in the patcher and you assign a button to it... example 'i want button x to shake' and when you press x the it will vibrate...  sounds more like a sex toy than fun to me.

One thing i havn't heard was if it will offer real rumble for the games that are rumble ready... like metroid pinball that would be nice and wouldn't make it so gimmicky.

Gleasonator

Good point. The thing about it maybe not supporting rumble-ready makes me want it even less...

i really do wonder how it will perform, homebrew-wise, i mean now that it lacks the sram, hopefully when more ppl get their hands on it we'll know for sure. anyway as i've said in another thread, they will probably release some patched roms (which apparently they have already done with metroid pinball) to make it compatible with the rumble-ready games.

The battery life with a regular supercard is already pretty short with rumble added it probably cut the already short battery life in half. Better invest in a juicer battery.

Devil_Spawn

that reminds me, ar ethere any more powerful batteries for the ds phat around?

I read somewhere that the battery life is actually longer, but I'm not really sure about that.
