2GB SD card, only 1 GB space??? Please help!

Right, my SD card is messed up, its a 2GB card, but after a while, it reads half full even after formatting! Anyone had any experience like this??? I'll describe in detail what my story is:

I got a 2 GB card from amazon, but when it arrived i formatted it, and it only read 1GB space. (The pie looked half full in properties, and i could only fit 1Gig of data) So i assumed the card was faulty, and sent it back for a replacement.
When the new one arrived, I didn't format, but just stuck a heap of games on, and it filled up fine. That was a few weeks ago
Then today I decide to copy some .sav's to my pc, but it won't let me, says 'Cyclic redundancy check' or something. So I can't move or delete certain files from the SD card (Approx 1Gig of data is stuck... see where this ones going?!?) so i format to try to fix the cyclic redundancy thing, and lo and behold, its reading half full again! Only 1 gig space on my new 2Gig SD card. This is making me think I'm doing something wrong. As if somehow my PC is making the SD card think its only 1GB, or something.

Has anyone experienced anything remotely like this? Any Ideas what I can do?
Does anyone know of an alternative SD card Formatting program? Maybe my Windows XP one is messed up, or something...

Any help would be much appreciated, cos I'm lost without my SD card!!!

Any bent pins in your card reader?  Sounds like the most significant bit of the address is messed up if you only see half the space.  Check your card reader or try another.  Do you have this problem with any other cards?

edit: Nevermind, I thought this was CF, not SD.  You should try another card reader, though.

I had the same problem on my old card reader, only supported SD 1.0 (max 2GB). Get a new one. :D
he Internet is a series of tubes. :D

So if i get a new card reader and format my card with that the data will be recovered? or should i run this SDFix2G thing too? I'm a bit dubious of using a program I've never heard of... Anyone used it?

dont worry there are reports of it working perfectly, and 1, t wont break anything and 2, if its not ur sd reader, then ur gonna b annoyed

FIXED!

I tried the SD2GBFix, but it was a bust, said the selected capacity as incorrect, or something?
But I got a new card reader and that worked a treat, so it must've been the old card reader was faulty/outdated. I formatted in the new Reader, and got my full 2GB back! And its also much faster transfer than before! So its all good.

Thanks for all the help.
