did anyone get one of these yet?  is there a performance difference from the 1gb one?

saw it on amazon.com for 100 bucks... probably not the best price but i guess its readily available.

Hopefully an Ultra II will come out soon to follow.

$100 sounds about right for it's debut

its not readily available since its supposed to be the verizon period unless its over already.  Amazon is almost your only option other than buying at verizon.

darkuni

It was 60 or 90 days.  I got mine there.

"Oh you own the Chocolate phone?"

"No asshole ... You bitches own a monopoly on this card for 90 days and I want it for a real, practical portable device".

He was not amused :)

Newegg has the A Data 2G Micro card for $86.  I've been using this card for the last week, and it works great.

I've got three 2000 Wii point cards and a Nyko charger for free so far.

bitblt

I picked up a 2GB microSD from Verizon today. I had a similar experience as darkuni.

bitblt: "I would like to buy a 2GB TF card please."
Verizon: "Sure. Do you own the Chocolate phone?"
bitblt: (lying) "Umm, my wife is going to get one."
Verizon: "Well, you need to buy this ($24) software kit to go with it."
bitblt: "Umm, no thanks. I just want the 2GB TF card please."
Verizon: "But Sir! If you don't buy the software kit it's like buying a blank CD without a CD burner."
bitblt: "Umm, no thanks. I just want the 2GB TF card please."
Verizon: "But Sir . . . " (interrupted by me)
bitblt: ". . . I ONLY WANT THE TF CARD . . ."
Verizon: ( blink blink blink )
Verizon: ( blink blink blink )
Verizon: "Here you go . . . have a nice day."

The moral of the story is be honest and tell them it's not for the damn Chocolate phone.

Been using 2gb microSD for like 3 weeks and works great..

Destro

I just got one today, but haven't tried it yet.

I got it at the Verizon kiosk inside Circuit City.  The guy asked me "which phone are you going to use it for", and I said "I'm not going to use it for a phone."  His response gave me the impression that he was asking to make sure I wasn't buying something incompatible with my phone, because as soon as I told him it wasn' t for a phone, he just shrugged and rang it up.

BTW - I also found out that you can't use Circuit City gift cards to buy Verizon products inside a Circuit City store.

PharaohsVizier

You guys know how they say theres almost no lag with a normal Sandisk 1gb, is there any lag with some of the crappier microsd's like kingston or something?

sonicwind

depends on the card.  like ds-link i heard kingston is way faster than sandisk but on supercard sandisk is faster.

Kingston being faster on DS-Link seems unlikely, as the DS-Link had to be updated just to make Kingston cards work at all. I'll let you know if my DS-Link ever arrives.

It depends on the access time of the card. My Kingston 512MB has a 2.x ms access time. I have heard reports of access times as small as 1.0ms on Kingstons but it is all up to luck. If you get a crappy card your games will lag, but on the other hand I have only read good things about Sandisk. I've got a 1GB A-Data myself and it is as fast as the KingMAX cards (when comparing access times) and it is dirt cheap.
