DS Lite + SuperCard CF v1.63 - nothing works

Hiya

Have been using a Supercard CF on a GBA fitted with an afterburner for a year or two now, without any problems.

Recently updated it to v1.63 firmware and the new patcher, and repatched all the roms etc.

Today I got a DS Lite, and a Max Media Launcher.

On the DS Lite, it passes all the supercard built-in tests.

The patched NDS games do not work (white screen on both.)
NES games boot for a second then crash (with or without Max Media) spectacularly (lots of flashing and stuff.)
GBA games go for a little longer, then lock (with or without Max Media).

DS Lite works fine with a real GBA cartridge.

Supercard CF works fine in a GBA.

Anyone else have any similar experiences?

Are Supercard CFs incompatible with DS Lites?  Why isn't it all working!!!!  Presumably if the DS Lite works with a real GBA cart, it can't really be the DS Lite?

Ironically, bought the DS Lite today as an early birthday present and a cheerup, 'cos of nasty medically things going on at the moment and I thought I needed a lift up.  Instead, techno-breakdown.

'elp!

From which firmware did you patch from (Did you go from say 1.54 to 1.63 for example) Or was is from 1.62 to 1.63. If you make too big of a firmware jump wierd things start to happen. Also which version of firmware did you use? 1.63 or 1.63B?

Devil_Spawn

try loading 1.60, then go through replacing the firmware to (after 1.61,1.62) 1.63
make sure there are no error when doing this, chances are it will owrk then, if not reflash 1.63 again, if still strange re-download the patching software, and some clean roms

might sound boring but it should flush out any corruptions ect

EDIT: also, reformat your cf card

Solved.   :D

* 256Mb cart (Crucial branded -- suspect really a Samsung) works without a problem.

* 512Mb cart (Crucial branded -- can't identify real make)  doesn't work.

Note; both are fine with the same SuperCard on a GBA, which pretty much excludes incompatibility between the Supercard and the CF cards themselves, and also firmware issues.

So, rather than a compatibility problem with the SuperCard or firmware, it looks like some combinations of SuperCard CF + Compact Flash card are incompatible with DS Lites.

I strongly suspect its something to do with, perhaps, current drain, as the side effects are a little grim; can result in wierd problems like jittering display on the DS lite) and also what looks like corruption of whatever is in the SDRAM in the SuperCard, plus general instability/crashing.

I noticed that there was another person who had a SuperCard CF working fine with a large DS, and when he used it on his DS Lite, it didn't work.  I bet its the same issue?

For the record, the problem is solved; got a Kingston Elite Pro 1Gb Compact Flash CF card, and it works a treat with the SuperCard CF and DS Lite, plus all homebrew etc.
