Did a quick test to compare how fast you can start a game:
Tested using mario kart seing how long it takes to get to the Nintendo fading in on the black screen from:
Turing on the DS and selecting the game from the Cart UI.
(Where applicable the cold boot time includes the time it takes to write the save game from a previous session)

Orginal: 5.6 / 3.2
SCL: 5.9 / 2.7
Ds-Link: 12.5 / 5.02
DS-X: 26.5 / 7.5
G6: 15.9 / 7.1

Interesting results, why does the ds-x take so long ? (on the fly patching?)

aslo i don't quite get the 2 sets of numbers
Yes I'm mad

ImmortalNinja

The first number is how long it takes to get to the game from a cold boot.
Ie. turn on ds, and then boot the game from UI and so included the time it takes to boot the Flash Cart
The second lower number is how long the game starts after selecting it from the UI of whatever falsh cart, so it only the time it takes to load the game.

The Ds-X seems to take a while to load its UI espcailly when it has to write the save from the previous session. It also takes some time to scan for any apps. There is an instant loading mode where the last game played is automatically booted and this is much faster.

Interesting indeed! Which brand of media did you use for all?

ImmortalNinja

SanDisk Micro SD ultraII for the DS-Link and SCL.
The others all have on board memory.

The SC also scans for "apps".

"apps" as in folders, save files, nds homebrew files, dsq/gba files.

But I guess that dosen't cound since it also dosen't scan for media/text/etc. files.
