does anyone know how the GBA union would work for these games?
since you have to name the GBA rom the same as the DS rom, the save files would also be the same
so how would you have a gba save and nds save with the same name in a single folder?

AnalogMan

GBA union is between a DS game and a GBA game in which it would be:
Pokemon Diamond.nds.dsq + Pokemon Diamond.nds.sav

and

Pokemon Diamond.gba + Pokemon Diamond.sav (these two are really like FireRed or something)

wouldn't it have to be
Pokemon Diamond.nds.dsq + Pokemon Diamond.nds.sav
and
Pokemon Diamond.nds.gba + Pokemon Diamond.nds.sav

in which the save files would overlap?
since the.nds.xxx the.nds wouldn't count as an extension so if you do it your way, the gba union wouldn't work

AnalogMan

No, it has to be done the other way OR ELSE the save files would overlap. Don't you think if people needed to do more than just rename the roms and throw them through the converter there'd be more topics like this?

Supercard only looks up to the first period, then stops.

Besides, even though most GBA unions DO work, you can't seem to save for some reason a lot of the time.

i know the save files would over lap XD

well up until pokemon diamond/union you oly need to load the GBA rom and not need the actual save file which would make sense for the lack of topics like this (albit wouldn't make sense for pkmn diamond/pearl

but since supercard only looks up to the first period then it makes sense, thanks for clearing it up

PharaohsVizier

So it works?  How do you connect them together?

AnalogMan

What you do, is while converting the NDS game that you wish to join a GBA game to, you select Enable GBA Union' on the options screen. Then you take your GBA games (already in Supercard format with save) and name it the same name as the NDS game as I posted above. When the NDS games boots, normally it would look in the GBA slots SRAM for the save file to the real GBA game and load your save info from the GBA cart. However, since this is a supercard, the patcher redirects it's SRAM search to a save file of the same name xxxxx.sav. It finds the GBA save data there and loads it up like normal.

It is glitchy however and there have been reports that patching the game for union makes it freeze/corrupt the save, but the actual action of Union works in game.

liquidnitrogen

wait... this actually works in pokemon diamond and pearl?

can you guys actually transfer pokemon from previous game file into this one?

PharaohsVizier

By the talk, I guess it works, but the question is, how do you connect them together?

AnalogMan

Oh My God people...

@liquidnitrogen: Yes. Yes you can. You need to get to a certain point int Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and you can import your pokemon from the GBA game FireRed/LeafGreen (maybe others, not sure). They appear in a Safari Zone like area for you to recapture, the success rate being 100%, only catch is rarer pokemon are harder to find. Like Mewtwo. Insuring you don't have a powerful pokemon early in the game.

@PharohsVizier: Read the thread. Specifically three posts up.

I understand that, but I mean in game, where is the Safari?  People keep talking aobut it, and I have no clue where it is...

SmashAdams

It's in the bottom of the map and it's only accessable when you get the National Dex (see all 150 pokemon in the region). It's called Pal Park.

I've heard that all pokemon, even rare ones, are pathetically easy to find.

Rurounik9999

GBA Union: Pokemon(Emerald, Sapphire) + Pokemon Diamond didn't work here.
Someone got it to work???
