SD Card Reader is write protected

Hey guys, I recently bought two bundles on Realhotstuff. The bundle was with these items, "Supercard Lite Rumble, Superkey, 1GB microSD, SD Card Reader"

Everything works great, except for the SD card reader on the 2nd bundle. I've tried switching the stuff around from the two bundles, and I've narrowed it down to the 2nd SD card reader. It keeps telling me that the "information on the disk is write-protected". I tried looking through the properties to see if it would let me turn it off, but I couldn't find it.

My question is that can this be fixed without ordering a new one, and if I do have to order a new one, do I have to pay for it?

SD cards do have little write-protect tabs on them. Make sure it's pointed towards the metal contacts, not away from them.

If you're not using XP/2000 do you have the right drivers for the reader?

Did you try a different USB port?

The white write-protect tab is facing towards the metal contacts, and I am on a XP home computer. I just tried all 4 of my USB 2 ports, no luck.

The SD card reader (not the SD card) is malfunctioning, it tells me that the write protection is on. I can copy things onto the micro SD card through the first SD card reader (they are the same model, except the second won't let me write anything onto any flash card).

It is the purple thing at the bottom of this picture..

I just wrote some files onto the flash card with the functioning connector, but the second one still doesn't allow me too.

Get a real reader....this one came as a freebie with my DS-Link. Guess where it is now? Still lodged in the box...never to be used

Seriously, get a Sandisk or equivalent reader. You will thank yourself.

Well I found out that the card reader I have is the same one that is bundled with the DS Link.  I use it and it doesn't really matter.  I mean sure it has some problems, you have to jam the card in then out then in, but it came free right?  :)

Sandisk MobileMate is what you (and everyone else) NEEDS. It is one of the few adapters that will take in a microSD card DIRECTLY. Not free of course, but worth every penny of the $15 it costs (Bestbuy.com)

The R4 comes with a free MicroSD card reader, I wonder what that performs like...
