could it be possible to adjust the brightness of a dsphat?

Hi

Everyone says it's impossible. They say that hardware was added to the dslight to allow it's brightness to be adjusted. But if you have flash me installed, the backlight fades in at startup. How could the backlight fade in at startup if the DSphat doesn't have the hardware to allow its brightness to be adjusted?

some dsphats have the new dslite hardware, or so ive heard

popinadam

My DSPhat has the feature, in order to test it download that Alite prog or LoveLite should do it too. I didn't figure it out until after a flashed it with v7 Flashme

If your DS-phat was purchased after DS-Lite came out it *might* have similar components. But I highly doubt it because its an inferior product. Nintendo just wanted to sell the last of their phats and then sell Lite in its place. I'm pretty sure the inferior phat is no longer in production and so I find it hard to believe there would be any out there with the newer hardware. Tbh, you're better utilizing EB's rip off of a trade scheme to get your phat exchanged for a newer lite.

Hi

That's interesting. What about the DSphats that don't? Does the backlight not fade in at startup. And what about when you exit DS download play on the regular firmware? You get a message saying "Your system will now shut down," and the backlight fades out. My friend bought a DS when they were very new. his backlight faded out when he exited DS download play. It deosn't make sence.

edit: alite dosn't work for me. but as I said, the backlight fades in at startup and fades out when I exit DSdownload play. Wierd.

the fading is it simple turning of and on real fast to make it feel like its fading

Hi

So why couldn't you turn it off and on faster/slower to make it seem like it's brighter/darker?

Because that would make you feel nautious.

kalus

i heard that the non-silver (the coloured ones) DS-phats had the needed chip to adjust brightness. Of course some silver probably would as well...

ZAFDeltaForce

I heard v5 and v6 DS Phats could adjust brightness levels. Is it true?

Yep, there's even a video on youtube.

In short, v5 or above DS fat, flashed with FlashMe v7, can change brightness.

Hi

What I'm hearing is sounding cooler and cooler. Is it true that all the colored DS's have the capability for their brightness to be adjusted.

And why did nintendo put a "DSlight chip" in some DSphats anyway? (I put DS lightchip in quotes because it's technecly not a DSlight chip if it's in a DSphat." )

because it would never get brighter, and it would probably give ppl epileptic fits or something

also even if u can get it to change, on the third and fourth brightness levels the colours become so washed you cant see anything and u get about an our of battery life

No, because some colored DS's are v4.
