I think I killed my SCmini doing a firmware upgrade

Hello all.  I just found your forum by searching for people that may have had this problem.

I have an old style DS with flashME firmware.  I think its v4...but i'm not positive since its been so long since I flashed it.  I downloaded the supercard firmware v1.7 and put the .bin in the root of my miniSD card.  I turn on my DS and select the firmware file and press A.  The screen comes up asking me if I want to upgrade from 1.63 to 1.7...I say yes.  Then a screen comes up that says something along the lines of "failed to write".  I turn off my DS and turn it back on, and now its not recognizing my SuperCard.

So is it totally dead, or is there something I can do to fix it?

Well... your SuperCard can't be TOTALLY dead as long as you don't like oil it and toss it in a fire or something. I believe there's a program you can run if you have two Super Cards to fix it, or you can use WiFiMe (since it's an old DS), but I've never had or met anyone whose had this problem.

...It seems as though the MiniSDs are a bit more fragile than the rest.

How do you run it in GBA mode?  Is that the one where you hold ABXY on power-up?  Although, I'm not exactly sure that GBA mode would do much, since on the DS menu it says "There is no Game Pak inserted" in the gba section.

Hopefully somebody can chime in on details with using WiFiMe to fix it, since I happen to have a ralink2500 wireless card.

To run it in GBA mode, press and hold Select as you boot your DS, then pick 'GBA Game'.

Here's WiFiMe stuff: http://www.aaronrogers.com/nintendods/wifime.php

GBA mode didn't do anything :(

Thanks for the wifime link, but I was looking for more on putting new firmware on my supercard via wifime.  Do you have any links for that?

I got it working with some help from Bitblt.  Thanks for all of your suggestions everybody.

I had to use darkfaders flashmp.nds with WiFiMe.  After that everything went smoothly.

I actually didn't provide very much help. I just pointed midgey in the right direction and he figured out the rest. I'm glad everything worked out. Well done.
