have you tried dslinux?

To be honest, i am still waiting for my SuperCard to arrive.  Should be here sometime this week.  I'm more so trying to get ready for it.  I have MoonShell i believe, thats the main reason i bought the SD card and SuperCard, for mp3 player back.

So what is this DS Linux?  I assume its an OS for the DS, but will it somehow void my warranty?  I JUST got my DS so i don't want to do anything to void it until the warranty runs out.

No more voids the warranty than using the SuperCard to run other homebrew.  Yes, DS-Linux is another OS.  At the moment its just text-based.  You don't have to flash your DS or anything, you just pop it on your card.  I've written a mini-tutorial for installing it somewhere in these forums (can't remember where.)  Think of it as being like a sort of DOS box for your DS.  There's some text-based web-browsers that come with it, that DO actually work, and work quite well; especially "links".  For more info on dslinux pop it into google or go to www.dslinux.org, or look for the dslinux + links tutorial on these forums.

When my SC comes in, I'll set up MoonShell and see what i can do with this thing.  I have a few roms that i want to try out, and a few video's to convert.  Though i tried the converter...but it didn't work.

I see a few DS browsers in the works (Gnirfleo, Okiwi) so i have hopes that those only require the SC and no Slot 1 device...

Ok, i was looking at RHS and saw that the SuperKey is only $24 (that seems like a good deal)...would this be all that i need?  I have a SuperCard SD and my DS Lite.  If i have the SuperKey, i should be able to run homebrew (browsers and such) without having to flash my DS Lite right?

*Edit: here's the link to the SuperKey i was looking at;

Yeah, a SuperKey or a Datel Max Media Launcher should do just fine.  MMLs were cheap locally here from www.dvd.co.uk so that's what I'm using.

What are the differences between the 2?  Is one better than the other?  I know SuperKey is compatible with SuperCard, but I'm not sure about the Max Media Launcher...

Devil_Spawn

superkey= will definitely have sleep mode
max media= never used to have sleep mode, some ppl say it does now, cant tell

So go with SuperKey?  It seems to be better than Max Media...

MML now has sleep mode just fine. :)  Superkey is probably better, if for no other reason than having come from the same place as the Supercard, however it seems to be much of a muchness to me -- depends what you can get cheapest?

Sounds good.  When i get some money in, i will likely buy the SuperKey, mainly because it will no doubt work with my SuperCard.  So just to get this straight, the SuperKey (and similar carts) tricks the DS into thinking there is a DS game or cartridge in it.  After that, the SuperKey will allow ANYTHING i have on the SuperCard to run...? :)
