I put my 4gb sd card in my wii, reads pics and videos just fine.


Saves...not so much.   I try to copy saves to the card and it just says....the file was not copied...what gives....

Did you try the formating tool under Data Management? And doesn't the manual say it can use up to 2gig? Thought I read that somewhere.

There is no data management format

There is but I just looked and it's only for the internal memory of the Wii not the memory cards (the option is in the "Wii System Settings" area) for future FYI.

did you do the update for the wii?  It has something to do with data transfer. There is a video on gonintendo.com of a guy transfering data after the update.

yea i can transfer but im saying there is no format utility
it errors oout and says the data was not copied when i try to transfer

This problem is all over the Nintendo forums, you may need to get a replacement. I had to call Nintendo's tech support today and the problem your having is an option they list on there automated phone system to get help with. Keep us updates, cause I too want to use a 4gig card but don't want to buy one until I know it works on the Wii,lol.

Nintendo has stated only up to 2GB is officially supported. And most reports I have read of 4GB and higher SD cards have been that they didn't work.

Hopefully they will improve compatibility with newer firmware updates.

I do think one of the early updates enabled copying saves and channels to the SD card. So if you haven't updated yet, maybe thats the problem.

Does seem wierd it can read from it, but not write.

My 4GB works fine with a UK Wii, both reading/writing saves
