Quote from: "DeVS"Nintendo has stated that this will be the last holiday season for the GBA. It's dead.

But, didn't they also say that the NDS was not the next generation GBA? Hmm...new GBA coming next year maybe?

GBA = One screen,
DS = Two screens.

After the DS being a such a hit, it would be a sin to not include the second screen.

The slot-1 thing just doesn't sound like something Nintendo would do. I think that the next system will have NDS cards at slot-2 and something SD-sizeish (or maybe the same size as an NDS card but in a different shape) as slot-one. Otherwise... it wont do too well.

That's my prediction.

Heh, it's so funny. Even Nintendo THEMSELVES were somewhat unsure of what kind of success the DS would bring. I remember when I first purchased it (about 2 or so days after release) and this is when I thought to myself "Wow, Nintendo is on to something with this so-called touchscreen "gimmick". Now, it is basically the dominant handheld. I do admit that I didn't see that coming!

When I first saw the DS, I was thinking, what the hell are they thinking?  PSP will kill the DS.  But I guess I was proving wrong, WAY wrong.

Well, I came over to the DS from a certain touch screen handheld (the Zodiac). I knew the touch screen function was not simply some gimmick, but rather a *requirement* for handhelds. It gives so much more to the interactive experience. I had a PSP too for some time. You know how many times I tried to "touch" the screen to make things happen? :) Touch screens should be the defacto standard in all handhelds to come in my personal opinion.

Now I am vearing WAY off the main topic :) Bottom line is that I absolutely LOVE what has been accomplished with the DS, but I still love the GBA too. Games are what it is all about, and the GBA has some of the best games ever created in it's arsenal...not to mention some kick ass emulators. Can a GBA emulator for the DS happen? Ehh..maybe. But I can imagine it is going to be slow as hell....especially if the slot 1 interface cannot access GBA functions. I am afraid playing GBA titles from a slot 1 is a complete dead end.
