I am interested to know why people are interested in a slot 1 card. What makes you choose a slot 1 over a slot 2?

Devil_Spawn

leaves gba slot free for ram or rumble pack etc

better compatibility with some games (the ones with copy protection)

also, because they are new :)

I prefer a slot 2 solution: they are a stable solution, there is that good extra ram for Linux, the GBA support and the basic functions are just perfect. I don't see any reason to toss my SCL.

How about?

Slot 2 devices appear to be illegal to sell under EU laws
(as they are designed to overcome copyright protection)

Slot 1 devices appear to be perfectly legal to sell in the EU
(as the copyright protection was previously overcome using a Slot 2 cart)

Not on every card. A lot of manufacturers of S1s are tossing it out the development window as 'unimportant'.
Setup: Onyx DS Lite, CycloDS + Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC; Camo GBA Micro, EZIV + Kingston 2GB MicroSD

There's a few games that does not work on every single card.

For one thing slot 1 cards look really cool.  They also leave the GBA slot open for option packs. More importantly Slot 1 cards have the potential to run DS ROMs properly without patching.  For example using my DS-X I can run Ultimate Spider-man, TonyHawk, Danny Phantom, Nacho Libre and even the Nintendo DS Browser.  These are ROMs that slot 2 cards currently have problems with. However there are a few ROMs that don't work with DS-X or DSLink, yet run fine with Supercard Lite.  It doesn't seem to matter what slot solution you choose there will always be a patch or firmware update to wait for. Anyway, the reason why I'm interested in slot 1 cards is because I want them to interface with my slot 2 cards.
