not sure yet. maybe is I do not know how to get it to work

NeroMayCry

Would you mind testing Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (USA) on it? Without patching, please. I'd like to see how well it works with clean ROMs, especially PoR which have been giving everything else trouble.

Ive noticed that if you format your memory card in dos, and do a full format, not just  quick one, and then put castlevania on, you get no freezes, i used to have freezes every so often when i would change weapons, etc, and now i dont, works great!

well i got my supercard ds, and so far having LOTS of problems.. i am late for a meeting, so maybe I'm rushing things too much.. but I'll write more later.

It won't eject from my DS sometimes, i have to keep trying.. and most of the time, my DS shows nothing in SLOT-1.  maybe 1 in 8 times it sees the supercard DS, and then it shows "no SD card"..

I only tried my toshiba 512mB microSD.  later I'll try sandisk.

hope this post isn't too negative.  had a bad day at work. lol

 Sounds like you are having a crappier day with your SC DS!

This sounds BAD. First, no Opera. Now, problems with the card ejecting. Remember the tightness of the SC SD? And even tighterness of the SC Lite? Now slot1 problems with the SC DS? Hell, I don't need that again. I changed my order to a spare DS-Link. At least I know for a fact that the card is solid, has given me 0 problems, and works with Opera. I will wait it out on this one I think. The SC team did repair the previous problems in earlier cards (the new SC SD is great!), but it is sounding like it may just be a bit to early in the game for the SC DS. I'd really like to hear more on this sneef.

Tired using m3 sd version on slot 2 and M3 version opera. same problem. also try to flashed my ds - same problem If this card not from my sweet heart will throw it into the dust bin. just joking others function are working fine. need a update  :|  :|

well, so far, i'm a lot happier with the performance of the sclite than with the SC DS.

hopefully they'll iron out some of the issues.

What i really do like is the O.S.

It is moonshell-based, and looks nice.

slowdowns on animal crossing remind me of my old supercard SD with a medium-speed card.  Why couldn't they get the Supercard DS (one) to run at the speed of the SCLite?

strange...

[edit] i guess playing with the settings helps a bit.  I set the "card speed" to 5x, and animal crossing wouldn't boot.  (default is 3x) set it to 4x, and it runs better than at 3x.  I'm using a kingmax 512MB microSD (not kingston, kingmax), which is actually a pretty fast card supposedly, despite the retarded name. [/edit]

[edit 2] well, it works pretty well with the kingmax card formatted to 64k clusters.  nacho libre works! haha.. in any case, I'm sure issues will eventually work out.  [/edit 2]

Any news about clean roms not playing? (tony hawk and NSMB etc) . And I read something about a DSO for slot one?? :o

I sold all my SCDS before they even landed here and shipped them within an hour of their arrival - demand is strong.
They look very, very similar to the X9 - I guess that the X9, SCDS, R4DS, EWin and M3S are all made by the same factory...

Bet there'll be a price war!

The speed/compat issue seems exactly the same as with the Slot-2's - the hardware can read/write/access any memory card perfectly, the only changes needed are to the firmware.  I guess that the libraries used are those originally written by people who assumed a sort of linear, hard-disk storage approach that was common with FAT-based hard disk drives.

Flash memory is not as simple as it looks - the controller moves stuff around to prevent one storage unit getting too many hits and hence wearing out.  So, presumably, you could kill a flash memory card if you re-formatted it too often (use quick format)!

So, buying a high-speed card will probably make no difference at all.  Until there's an accurate measure it's just throwing money at the problem.

As there are a whole raft of OEM's making these Slot-1 cards now, the real way forward is to open-source the firmware so that we get out of the cathedral and into the bazaar.  Whichever OEM has the vision to do that will turn the slot-1 into a commodity, but the loss of profit will also mean that the products lose commercial impetus.

I think of all the commercial games out there - why does none of the homebrew look and feel that good?  It's the huge creative teams with big budgets that makes them so attractive - but hey, this is creativity - a single idea can blow it all apart.

So, maybe if the Slot-1s remain closed source and profitable to make, we'll get better products?  I'd rather support an open-source development team than have the features decided behind closed doors at the whim of some techbiz profiteer.

Chris

Wow... Opera isn't working? That was one of the main reasons I decided to go for a Slot 1 device. Atleast my DSLink works with it. I was hoping that the SDSOne would be great like all their other products. So far the reviews are not promising.
