Slot-1 vs. Slot-2

I was about to purchase a SC miniSD recently, but a friend suggested that I wait a bit because the Slot-1 SC was going to be out soon. My main concern with this was that I do have an interest in homebrew, and I have heard that Slot-1 devices aren't as good for it. Is there any truth to this, or should I eventually be able to run homebrew just as well on an SCDS? What are the main advantages and disadvantages of the Slot-1 versus the Slot-2? I've read that the first generation SCDS's that some of you have aren't working as well as they could, so do you think it would be worth it to wait until they improve or go ahead and buy the miniSD now?

Thank you.

Dingo, welcome to scdev!

I have a slot 2 device (sc sd and a sclite) and like them both. I would like to get a slot 1, which will be a SC DSone.

Often when a new cart is released, there are issues at the beginning which are usually corrected by firmware, etc...

Here are few posts to help you with your decision, as the homebrew questions have been answered, somewhat:

I think you will be happy with either cart you choose whether it is the slot1 SC or the slot 2 mini.

If you want to use homebrew, I would still recommend you get a slot 2. The slot 1 devices are not very mature yet.
