Wow. You helped till now just to get the guru title? That's kinda...sad.
e who laughs last, obviously didn't get the joke.

If at first you don't succeed, redefine success.

how far have you gotten? for instance, do you mean the AP doesn't show up on a site survey?

Honestly, I don't see how a little USB adapter can take the place of an almost one foot by one foot router... there must be a reason that they're so big. I mean, how much space would a few LAN cables take up? I'm sure there's a way, but if you find one, it's quite possible it could run perfectly, but I wouldn't expect it.

my laptop recognizes it when i search for wireless networks in range, but when i try to connect it goes through the connecting process, says its connected then when i check the wireless networks in ranged it says not connected or limited to no connectivity

uzumakishade

...thats the same thing as the third post lol (not same link, but same general thing)

lol well in that case you've messed up somewhere... this one (and even your tutorial!) uses the modified driver, so it should work as a full AP! If not, then theres a problem with the setup. Have you tried using a static IP on the laptop? If its coming up with limited connectivity, then its not being assigned an IP by DHCP. The static IP may fix it, or may even indicate a larger problem.

uzumakishade

the setup is fine cuz my ds connects to it, so if it screwed then ds couldnt connect, and ya it has said limited or no connectivity before when i tried connecting to it, how would i give it a static ip?

kalus

It sounds like the hack isn't properly installed. The dongle is letting you connect or you wouldn't get as far as the limited connection, but its not assigning you an IP, so it sounds like the DHCP server associated with the dongle is blocking the laptop, but not the DS, probably by MAC address, by design. Two things to try:

1. Get your DS' MAC address, assign it to the laptop's wifi adaptor, and then try to connect.

2. Assign the wifi adaptor on the laptop a static IP BEFORE you try and connect to the dongle. If you don't know how to do this or the previous one, just ask :)

ya how would i give the laptop a static ip i dont know how to do that
