Replace it...looks like a normal battery for a watch.  What i want to know is if the battery is needed, because the R4 doesn't have a battery...is that good or bad?

rocky

I think the battery is for saves for certain games or something like that.  I don't think the supercard DS has one because there isn't much room for one but if there is one then it would be rechargeable like the supercard mini sd and rumble versions.

Dude. Chill. "?!?????!?!!!" is not going to attract people to your questions. One punctuation symbol per scentence please.

That is a battery. You've never heard of rechargeable batteries? You buy a dock for them and stick them in and plug the dock in and it charges. The reason they haven't taken over regular batteries is because most devices aren't compatible with them.

The only real reson I can think of that a DS cart would have a battery would be for a clock. That's why when you turn your DS off and turn it back on the clock progressed... from the battery.

Or... it could be to work with games like Pokemon, to determine wether it's day or night. I'm not sure wether or not the new Pokemon has this feature, but if so, there's your answer.

No. The new pokemon uses the DS internal system clock.

Oh.  Duh. I overlooked that. :P

So then... you'd assume that if SCDS had a clock, it'd also use the NDS's system clock. Hmmm.... maybe Romman is planning on doing something with that NOT YET RELEASED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

This may just possibly be the next generation. I can see it now... my SuperCard will let me play DS games AND it will make me ginger snaps... mmm ginger snaps... and peanut brittle... and cream soda... damn I'm gonna die of a heart attack before I'm fifteen. XD

I don't think it is meant for any clocks.  The Supercard Mini SD has a battery and it is used for SRAM, I think it is somewhat the same thing.  Holds saves and other little bits of info.  It is just stupid to have a clock built in to a cart when you can use the DS's, and frankly, with a DS sized cart, you don't have much space to waste.  The only reason I can see to have a built in clock is future GBA support, it can hold saves, and emulate the GBA clock, but I seriously doubt that we will see anymore GBA over the next little while.

rocky

Well i think on the Mini SD it is a rechargeable battery that charges when the system is on.  So I think it is the same with the supercard DS battery

sinkhead

The N-Card and DSLinker have this also. The batteries charge up when the system is in use

Hi

The m3 battery delt with saves.

I'm sure that's what the scds battery does.

If the battery fails to work, you'll no longer be able to save unless you use super mode and choose "Save directly to memory card" that's what I think anyway. It would make sense. It also tells us what save  directly to memory card does.
