Im wondering whats the best flashcart (slot-1) before I buy another one. So I can get the best one.

BTW I only included the ones that are affordable to me. And the ones that aren't out, when one of you guys get them please vote. Please, if you can, leave a few reasons for your vote.

Thank you!

Hi, I am kind of in the same position as you are.  Currently I am looking at R4 and EZ Flash V as my options.  M3 Simply might come in to play later, but frankly, I haven't heard too much about it, other than "it is the same as R4".

The R4 looks great, but how will it do in the long run?  I'm not sure if it is a reliable company, even though they seem like it now, maybe 2 or 3 years from now, they may drop support.  I know that the trusty EZ Team will keep supporting the EZV for a long time, however I feel like they will screw us all over again with something like, EZV compact or something like that, as they have a history of reselling the same product over and over.  I guess in this battle the R4 is winning, it has great support right now, it is great right now, and best of all, it supports download play (apparently...).

The M3 Simply may be my alternative to R4, as the better choice.  They have all the pluses of the R4 (supposedly...), but takes down one of my worst fears.  M3 is a good company that will keep supporting their own product.

My vote goes to the R4 simply because I know that it is a favorite among most people at GBAtemp.  However I would like to know how well it works with a GBA cart, say my Supercard.  Does it work like the DSLink?

The M3 and R4 are exactly the same... well, except the firmware. :)

I ordered the SCDS, but I'm kind of regretting it now; the M3/R4 seems a little better... I'm not sure, so I'm not going to vote. ~_~

I completely agree with you PharosVizer.  I really like the R4 and EZV5 as the slot-1 competition stands now.  Both have great compatibility & have beautiful interfaces/OS.  Oh yeah, both are relatively cheap!

One thing I don't get though is if the M3 and R4 are the same, why is the M3 more expensive?

And yes, I totally fear that R4 would just drop support.  Yet, there is the possibility that they will create an unofficial forum just like for the Supercard.

The SCDS is the only one out as far as I know.
How could anyone vote for 3 cards they haven't tried.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you managed to get hold of them?

I'm wrong as usual!

I've got an R4 with me right now, it's excellent! Some people have gotten the EZFlash (I havn't) and nobody's gotten a M3 Simply yet however mine has just left Hong Kong.

The best will be a supercard DS on slot 1 support 100% nds backup , gba link. M3 perfect lite on slot 2 can have PDA function & run 100% GBA backup. with 4GB on each card total will have 8GB of data. The only miss out will be rumble function

I think it is still too early for a poll of this sort. The *best* slot1 solution will be one that is the most compatible, as well as the one with the most updates and catering to the homebrew community. The SCDS is still an infant, as is the R4 and EZF, and the M3 is not even in reviewers hands yet. Remember there are also the others such as the DS-Link (which is about 99% game compatible atm) and the DS-Xtreme (which is about the same). At this point in the game, it can go any way. Don't matter if clean rom support is/is not supported, don't matter if it is internal memory or removable media.....what WILL matter is compatibility and long term support.

In short, keep these things in mind, buy one that works well, and use it :)

we should not poll on the card. we should do a poll on the company becuase is the updates , catering to the homebrew and long term support that make the diff.

Well, only time will tell with these devices. My current favorite slot1 is not even on the list (DS-Link), and although it does not include a passme (needs flashing), the cart is top notch quality, with awesome GUI, awesome compatibility, soft reset function (I need this!), and as far as I have seen a stream of constant updates to software and firmware. Of course this can change for this card, as well as any of the others. Support is going to be key as time goes on. I think we'll see who the winners and losers are going to be within the next six or so months....after the slot1 heated battle settles down and people start concentrating on performance.

I don't think company is a good factor to look at.  They can surprise us.  I mean at first when I saw the DSLink, I thought it was a great product, but I did not expect a long term support from the company, but here they are, still with great updates.

Why is DS Link not listed?

Then you should have changed the poll from "Best Flashcart" to "Which Flashcart Should I Buy?" :)
