Help for my hack of FFV

Hey, This is a simple hack I want to do but I don't know where to start.
What I want to do is take out the facial portraits in FFV because they weren't in the original SNES version. Lol, It sounds minor but they bother me, plus they are freaking ugly... How do I do this?
