Well, I just got a black Nintendo DS Lite today and I know this might be a dumb question, but how do I take care of it and make sure it'll last me VERY long. I noticed my friend told me to initially thoroughly inspect the DS for any scratches or anything that might come loose. Did that, and well.. there's nothing wrong with it. He was telling me also about bewaring of cracked hinges since it can cause a serious problem. Well, my question is:

What can I do to take care of my NDS Lite, and NOT FUCK IT UP AT ALL?

do you mean physically?

i'd recommend a slip case and maybe screen protectors. it's nice to take care of your belongings but don't go overboard. most things were designed to be used and only the aesthetics deteriorate with time. for instance, i've spent a bit of money on mobile phone cases but when i get a new phone, my old phone (which is in pristine condition) just sits in the corner to gather dust.

if you're talking about the lifespan, the battery is replaceable and slot-1 solutions do not require flashing.

i guess i don't have to mention "don't put it in a blender" and etc

carry it around in a case (as mentioned above)
and definately screen protectors, get them as soon as possible. I recomend getting a good quality one and not a dumb walmart brand or something :razz:

O and about the cracked hinge, don't worry about it.  The cracked hinge only appears on the White DSL.  (if you are talking about the factory defect, and not physically slamming it against the wall)

That is not true. I read a post on this very site of a person that had a Navy Blue model that exhibited the problem to an extreme. If I recall correctly it was a mod that had that issue.

Well I havn't heard of cracked hinges on Onyx Black DSL's. Yay!
