I just ran across this program to access GBA mode and it's very useful.  If you're in DS mode and you want to switch instantly to GBA mode without rebooting, try ryanfb's GBA mode switcher:

Beautiful! I just bought FF6 for GBA yesterday (One of my favorite games of all time, had to rebuy it ^_^) and I was finding it a tad annoying that I had to take out my R4 every time I wanted to play it.

actually you can with MK4 dump.
boot to slot 2 or slot  1 it is made for a slot 1 cart like dslink, but can work on some slot 2 carts to load slot 1
