I have a question about ebay

i bought this item

and it says free shipping to the US. But the person selling demands I pay $20 because it was listed as another shipping option. Should i have to pay the extra 20 or am i entitled to the free shipping because he listed it that way.

You are entitled to free shipping. That is an underhanded tactic to get "FREE" shipping listed in the search results page. Demand free shipping for the item since you are located in the United States; if he does not go along, threaten to report him to eBay for asking for more money after the auction has ended. If he still doesn't comply, do report him to eBay. They will almost certainly be on your side.

on the other hand, ebay might rule in the seller's favour and give you the "you should have asked about the shipping beforehand" response.

the FREE option is for an unstated method of delivery, which could easily be collection. the only grounds you have is that he didn't mention what this was in his listing - but in my opinion, it was pretty much obvious shipping wasn't going to be free.

Ummm yea, it wasn't smart to buy such an expensive item from a 0 feebacker. They can screw you over. The reason it is so cheap is because everyone is afraid to buy, yet you went right ahead, and you get screwed over for that.

And eBay will side with you for the FREE shipping, however, he has nothing to be afraid of because he is a 0 feebacker. So the best bet is not to pay anything until you ask eBay people first.

Ohh hell no. I wouldn't pay jack or shit for shipping, thats a scam. I would report him to ebay and at the same time put in a dispute with paypal and get my money back. You should know better then to make a big purchase from someone with 0 feedback.

And thats not the thing that suprised me most, the thing that surprised me MOST, is the fact that you bidded a total of 6 times for the item... never bid until the last second, you were just jacking up the price for yourself. Chances were, if you did not bid so many times, that other guy wouldn't have bidded as high, and you would have had it cheaper (however, it is a scam).

I got a question about ebay too...
My dad purchased the latest version of Catia (3d modeling) and it turns out its the same exact one found on a torrent but he felt bad about not paying for it. He figured he was getting a good deal thinking it was real(as ebay TOS say there is no selling of bootleg items) but yeh it was just a copy.
So, what should i suggest to my dad to do?

thanks guys, the guy wasn't actually an asshole, putting up a dispute got him to ship it. Next time i gotta be more careful :oops:
