DS-Linker Review

Hey guys,

I just received my DS-Linker(I got it for my girlfriend since she's been wanting something ever since I got my G6). And it came with a USB cable. So, I put both the Linker and the Writer into my Lite, then plugged in the USB.

So, when I plugged it into my computer, and turned on the DS, I got a window stating New Hardware Found. Then, a couple seconds later, I got another window, stating Hardware my not Function Properly. So, my computer isn't recognizing the DS-Linker.

I went to their website, and downloaded the flashformat app. But when I open it, it wants me to select the drive the Linker is in. Well, since it's not being recognized, a drive isn't showing up in the app.

And it's not the USB cable, because I tried it on my psp, and my computer recognizes it just fine. I also tried another USB cable(the one that came with my camera), and still no luck.

So, I emailed Kicktrading to see what I should. They probably email me back with a couple trouble shooting tips. And if that doesn't work, I'll have to send it back.

So I was hoping maybe someone here might know what the problem would be. All she cares about is playing NDS games, so this is pretty much perfect for her. So, if anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for any info

Try a different cable maybe. Did you read any of the reviews before this purchase?
Nintendo DSi
Nintendo Wii - cIOS38 Revision 12 (and more)
Madden PSP Slim v5.00 M33-6

No, I couldn't find any reviews on it when I was purchasing. And I've tried all my cables, and they all work on other stuff, just not the DS-Linker. So it's definitely the cart.

And, it wasn't until I typed in DS-Linker Support Forums, that I found this site. Just yesterday a couple reviews were finally posted up at Kicktrading, and those two people are very satisfied with it.

So, Kicktrading just emailed me back, and gave me a couple troubleshooting tips. But they all involve me getting into the Root of the Linker. But I can't do that since my computer won't recognize it.

So, I'm jsut going to have to send it back. I'll just throw in the extra money, and get her a G6(unless anyone knows where I can get an M3 Simply, I can't find one anywhere).

Thanks anyways.

If you can't find an M3 Simply go with an R4 or Supercard DS, just as simple to use and no rom patching unlike the G6 Lite.

Cool. Thank you sinkhead. I've heard great things about the EX Flash products. And the review was very positive.

So, I guess I'll just trade the DS-Linker, for the EZ Flash V. Since Kicktrading doesn't have R4's. And I want to jsut exchange with them, since I bought it from them.

Thank you for the help.

EDIT: Well, actually the Supercard DS is only five dollars more. So I'm not sure which to get.

And all that I"ll need for either of them, is a microSD, right? Nothing else?

Thanks

You know what my dumb ass just found out, that I wasn't plugging the USB cable in all the way into the writer.

Somone else on Maxconsole had the the same problem. And you have to push pretty hard to get it all the way into that writer. Well, I thought it was in already, and if I pushed too hard, it would break.

So anyways, I just wrote a couple games to it, and they play great. This is perfect for my girlfriend. She's going to be so happy I figured it out.

So yeah, I guess the homebrew part sucks. But if all you want is something jsut to play NDS games, this gets the job done well, and at a good price.
