I wonder is it possible
Since PSP can run 100% Speed PS1 games
i think DS is pretty powerfull
i just wonder will we ever see it? PS1 Games on DS Running Full Speed !

Right

The PSP is much more powerfull than the DS (not that I have anything against the DS power) and is a lot closer to a PS1 architecture than the DS. As the PS1 has to be emulated, there is not enough processor power to handle all the convertions and renders at the speed of an actual PS1. In fact, theorically PSx emulation would be possible (altough it would be hard to code), but would always run very slow and would never get close to 100% speed

To give you some perspective, what you're asking for might as well be running PS3 games on a PS1.  (Even if PS3 games look like crap so far )

Well, you'll always have knockoff ports like Res Evil. Just don't expect much else.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

Horrible analogy since the DS is far superior to the PS1 in terms of raw processing power, double the amount of RAM too.

A better comparison would be trying to emulate the sega saturn on an N64. Besides issues of very different architecture and not being able to run the games at full speed, the fact that the medium is far larger on the system being emulated means it'd be quite difficult to even find a way for the data to be sent to the console.

As Exort said, it'd be possible to emulate the hardware on the DS... but it would never ever come anywhere near close to full speed.

By definition though, nearly any system can be emulated by another one, the thing to remember though is that it takes a lot of power to emulate something in real time. Hell, the DS could probably emulate a PS2 if you wanted to wait 30 minutes for a single frame to be rendered.

which is not how we want to play things.......  Just think about it this way.  We don't even have perfect SNES emulation on the ds.  There is no way any of us would make ps1 games work at a playable speed.
