Hi,

Just wondering.
I would love to have a gui like the new supercard one cart.

Cheers Shane

There is no reason why they couldn't, but it doesn't seem very likely that they will at this point.

My guess is that there won't be too many more updates for SC SD cards anymore.  Not only are they concentrating on the slot 1 devices now, but GBA is about complete.....very few new games are going to be coming out for it anymore.  No real reason to update except to add the few last games to the dat lists.

Though I wouldn't mind an update to the built-in PocketNES to bring it to the latest version.
Current setup:
Onyx DSlite/R4DS/SCminiSD
2gig Transcend card for the SCminiSD
2gig Kingston for the R4DS
4 gigglingbytes of games/apps! WOOT!

The Supercard patcher and GUI are still used for NDS games remember.  I'd call that a good reason to update, since new games will bring new incompatibilities.

Since they still make them and sell them they had full well better keep updating them. That said, though, I haven't seen any indications that they're going to stop.

My WAG is that SC will stick with the same text base interface for the slot 2 devices they currently support. I think they need to improve on there slot 1 GUI. There touch screen mapping has little to be desired. Currently I prefer the slot 2 design as it is hard to not select a choice and get something else because you did not press hard enough (cause there is no touch screen).

I highly doubt they'll stop supporting slot 2 devices. They are still making and selling for them and they still have very high DS compatibility that could be improved.

As for the GUI, it's just a simple matter of on startup to load a file from the root directory to create a new little OS... but for some reason they've always shied away from this on the slot-2 cards... something I never quite understood. Since they haven't done it yet, I wouldn't expect them to do it anytime soon.

Just out of curiosity, will the next supercard cf/sd update fix the problems with the non working gba's and nds's?

liquidnitrogen

next supercard update will be more NDS support! .... gba is basically erm, cant catch up with speed because of the ram limitations :( dammit...

Hi

Actually, the sc patcher is to blame for some of the slowdowns, so I don't see why the sc team wouldn't try to fix this as well.

I hope so (and i know you were answering Nyuks question, but that should be a given, otherwise the releases would be a better GUI, at least i hope it would if they were not fixing nds support. ).

Well to be fair you still can use the d-pad and a button to select items.
You can set the icons to be automatically set to small icons/text in global.ini and you can even change the list to go to the top screen and use the desktop.bmp on your bottom screen.

I prefer the files on the bottom screen but it is a bit troublesome when playing music.
