Hi

I just bought a DS lite and I got the supercard with it.
I have no idea how to use the supercard though...
I've dumped some roms and i've used the supercard software to patch the files onto the mini sd card.
With most of the roms I don't even get the games in the "list" tab.
With the games that do get listed the game doesn't load, the screen just goes white after I select it...

Plz help...

OK... first of all, even if administrators won't ban you or anything, it's considered... "rude" to say "I downloaded some ROMs". We all know that, and, well... let's not mention it. Let's assume you dump your own games ;)

So. You've got a SuperCard miniSD, didn't you? Did you upgrade its firmware to the latest version? Are you sure you're using the correct patcher for your SuperCard? (There are Rumble and non-Rumble series, both for miniSD based cards and microSD/Lite cards). Be sure to get the correct patcher, if not, the games won't work.

If they're not appearing at the menu list, it's because they probably don't have the proper extension. When you patch the games, are you getting a nds.dsq and a nds.sav for each game you patch? You may change its file extension to .dsq and .sav, removing the ".nds", but you cannot use ".nds" alone. Check that.

If they give you dual white screens, my bet is placed on your patcher software. Be sure to check that you're using the correct one for your card. Also, it may be due to cosmic powers making you use ONLY and solely ROMs that must be patched with a specific set of options. Meh.

Guyver, Welcome to scdev!

First off you need to make sure your mini SD card is formatted to FAT (FAT16), not FAT32.

Is your card a rumble or non rumble version. You need to download the latest firmware (1.7) and patching software 2.58 from eng.supercard.cn, make sure to get the correct one rumble/nonrumble.

Now you need to update your SCmini firmware.

See this thread and the second post for more info Newbie: Can't upgrade my supercard.lite!. Granted this is for the sclite but the steps apply to you, just substitute SC miniSD for the SClite and you are good to go.

jmr

is your lite flashed or have you got a superkey
you will need one of them to play DS roms
if you have a rumble you will only be able to play DS roms & you will still need to flash or have a superkey

JMR, nice catch! Missed that question totally (now i see why you are VIP! lol!  ).

Yeah. You go to hell when you die if you download roms. ;)
DS Lite Onyx Black
Supercard Lite
Nintendo Wii (US)
PSP (Metal Gear PO Limited Edition)

Guyver

okay won't mention that again.

I'm not sure if I have the rumble version...
I have flashed the card in FAT16 and I have updated the firmware...
I'll try a different patcher software and will see what happens.

Thanx for the replies :)

Guyver

Tried the rumble software but it didn't work... :(

Oh, and the game extensions are correct...

Guyver

Will a "M3 DS Simply" be easier to use?

onekelly

Guyver, most likely you do not have a rumble mini, as you say that you are not sure if it is. On the front of cart there is a picture and in the top right corner is a little picture and text that says rumble.

Here is a picture of it, take a look at where the arrow is pointed.

This is a quick way to tell if you have a rumble or not.

If you have the wrong software, get the right software and give it a go.

On the m3 simply, i do not know. The miniSD is a great cart.

Guyver

its definitely not a rumble then...

I've used all the software, none of them work

onekelly

Guyver, like jmr asked, do you have a superkey or a flashed ds?

onekelly

Also it may be possible that the setting on the patching software are off. I had dl'd the latest and the settings were all turned off.

Also when you put a backed up rom in the patching software, you need to double click it, which takes you properties. they should look like this

Here is FifthE1ements wonderful guide to the supercard

another tip DON'T try output the games directly to the mem card ...

output to HARD DRIVE first then put the save and the game file into a folder..

rename the folder to the games name (logical huh? keeps them together and avoids the mass amount of files in one directory problems when using fat file system :) )

then copy the folder and its contents to the flash card  :)

as above use only the patcher specific to your supercard ...there are 2 varients for each of the lite sd and mini sd supercards one rumble and one normal for each make sure you have the right one  :)
