DS 1 observations/questions

I recently got in a DS1 in hopes to replace the current supercard light combo.  The goal was to find a good replacement and give the old setup to a cousin of mine.

So far I really have just one question ...
1.  where/how do you put your patched roms so that the DS1 will play them.

Here are some observations.
1.  The plastic case is a nice upgrade from the old superkey but in doing so it looks like they made the guide fingers (plastic slots seperating the copper contacts) thicker.  Im guessing this is what causes the problems where people are getting intermittent operations, me included.

2.  The locking for the micro SD card is the only feature I wish the supercard lite had.  The problem with it is that where its positioned you have to eject the DS1 to eject the micro sd card.

3.  The version of moonshell that they call the OS (Im guessing thats what it is) is nice but its rather annoying the way it keeps popping up the description window or whatever that is.

So any help with the one question would be much appreciated.
I hope to have some nice closeup pictures of the issue with the plastic cases, I just ran out of time to do that.

Peace

Well you need a microSD card to put your roms on. You dont have to patch them at all if you don't wanna. I extract mine staight to my card. They dont have to be in any particular order. I have my NDS roms in a folder named NDS Games and I put my homebrew in a seperate folder.

Your second observation is wrong. The miscroSD slot is at the top of the DS1. So you can remove the card without ejecting the DS1. I use my stylus to do it.

As far as your third observation, that popup can be deactivated by editing the global.ini file in the scshell folder.

I still have an older slow micro sd, and I have the patched games from my sdlite sitting around.  Not that I dont have the un-patched ones as well, thats just a matter of un-zipping files. The only file I find that resembles an OS, launches into moonshell.  I have my roms in a folder off of the root directory.
Do I have the right OS?
Are the files in the right location?

The stylus might work, well actually it probably does work but its a bit of work and they really should have put the sd slot on the other side so you can get to it.  Mine is stiff enough that the force required to put in the SD is also usually enough to eject the cartridge itself.

Thank god, that pop up was driving me nuts.

I have no problem ejecting the MicroSD card while the SC DS is in my NDS. Just use your fingernails
And yeah, i agree about the description window. I edited global.ini to remove it, but it still shows up

Don't use your old roms man. Also, sounds like you are using the old os. Go here and get the new one. http://eng.supercard.cn/soft_scdsone.htm

I believe this is the version of the software thats on the sd card:

SuperCard DS(ONE) Operation System: SuperCard DS(ONE) OS 710120 (2007.01.20)

Is this the correct one to have on there to just play games?

Yup, thats the latest one. You should be all good to go  8)

Hi

The scdsone can't use .dsq roms. ether copy the clean (unzipped) roms to your microsd card and play or use the scdsone patching software rather than the sclite patching software. Is that the problem, or am I missing something?

I did download and try the new patcher with the same results, but as hectic as things have been Ill re-download
SOFTWARE(Super Mode needed only): Super Mode software for SC DS(ONE) 2.58 (2006.12.25)
and run the test again.

I dont even waste time patching roms anymore. Just unzip a clean rom DIRECTLY to your microSD card. Thats wat I do.

Well I finally got everything working, well atleast the un-patched games seem to work fine.  The patched one atleast showed up with goes to show I had to many pieces parts from the supercard lite floating around.

I believe it is safe to say that the product is nice, its even safer to say that it could be nicer.

0.  Fix the cartridge so that it matches the standard, the fins between the contacts are to wide.  It causes contact problems.
1.  One software release that supports all products, just pick your product and start patching.
2.  Decent documentation in the box
3.  Software in the box instead of having to download it.
4.  Put the micro sd on the outside of the card so you can get to it without having to pull out a stylus.

If they could fix or add these features then they would have a much better product.  Hell I imagine that just getting the documentation and software done would be a huge improvement.

Heres a few things I would love to see done.
1.  Have the software on your PC setup to allow for auto-updates.  By that I mean you tell it to check for an update and it gives you the option of prepping a sd disk for use or updating an existing sd disk.
2.  Have the software support 7zip files (not the os just the patch software) as well as regular zip.
3.  Have the software maintain your "backup" roms so that you dont have to.

I did finally manage to get the cards under the camera scope and snag a few pictures so you can see it.  Ill convert those and find a place to post them.

For the meantime Ill stick with the sd lite, not because its a better product or not.  More because I still need to figure out a way around the contact connection issues.
