i've seen no answers to this question anywhere, not at the official site, not here or anywhere else.  do you need to buy the reader/cartridge combo to backup?  if i don't want to back up games with the supercard, i can just use any cf reader/writer correct?

thanks

yes.  just buy normal c/f card reader.
you need supercard. c/f memory card, c/f card read to back up rom.
also need supercard software, download from www.supercard.cn
have to convert gba rom with supercad software and than put in
c/f memory card.

if by backing up games, you mean backing up your commercial gba games, you'll need a linker such as x-rom, ezflash, etc, etc.

i have a 2nd gen flash cart and linker.  i was just curious.  i guess the supercard people use the word "backup" instead of "save" considering it's described as being able to backup and play on cf.  eh, i guess appearing legit doesn't matter anymore.
