I'm a total virgin with Nintendo consoles. I own a PSP and my girlfriend wants a DS, and I'd like to play around with it as well.

I've done a bit of research and figured I need this Superpass thing, so right now ive got this in my basket:

Supercard SD and Superpass DS Bundle
512 MB SD Card
Pink DS
Card Reader for PC (As we don't have one)

I've looked around the forums and apologise if these questions have been asked before but Im looking at 200 pounds here and i don't want to waste all my money. I've only jsut got my head around PSP firmwares and loaders!

1. I'm not sure, but looking around I think I need an NDS original game to boot the Supercard? Or at least play NDS roms on it? What games do people know work for this? Nintendogs?

2. Pink DS - the site im using - consoleplus.co.uk seems fairly happy about the superpass working in this, but I've heard rumours they arent compatible with newer models?

3. Space - Is a 512MB SD a good choice? I cant really afford a 1GB so what are rom sizes like? Will it be sensible to assume I could fit a game on it and an album or so?

4. Firmware - I'm sure I'll be able to figure this out, but I just want to make sure I have all the equipment I need to flash the firmware of everything. Generally I just want to make sure what I have is what I need to get a confirmed, commercial Rom running.

Thanks for the help!

Hi there mate

1. I use the metroid prime demo for my one, all games have run fine.
2. Not sure, I have a silver one
3. 512 is enough, I have about 15 - 20 ROMs on my 512 at the moment
4. The software side is pretty easy, and since the new firmware is coming out this week it makes it so much better

Make sure you have a SD card reader!  :D

keep in mind that UNTIL the new firmware is released and functioning, you will need original DS carts with the correct save size in order to SAVE your DS games (using superpass).

this means if you want to save a 2mbit eeprom game (nintendogs, advance wars, madden, etc..) you need a 2mbit cart in your DS slot.

if you want to save a 64k eeprom game (mario 64, rayman, trace memory, etc) you will need a 64k cart..

the same goes for 4k games (goldeneye, metroid demo, etc..)

just letting you know.  but this should all be irrelevant (hopefully) as soon as the 1.51 firmware is released and tested.  1.51 promises to allow saving to SD/CF card, as well as running games >256mbit direct from SD/CF..

Thanks for the help guys!

I bought all the stuff yesterday and it arrive today and worked great. I've got NDS roms running on it just fine. Theres only a few things I still can't figure out.

1. What are the advantages to flashing the ACTUAL ds system, considering it seems fairly dangerous?

2. Im learning about pogoshell and its 32 meg limit but I really don't understand, some people are saying they can play much bigger files by compiling it? Is there any tutorial or more information I can read about on this? Ideally I'd like to be able to fit at least one album playable on the card?
