My GF wants one of those Ice Blue NDSL's.  Seems that after like a year since they came out in Japan, there hasn't been any news about them coming to the US.  So I'm thinking of buying an import.

Any input on this would be nice, but most importantly, are there any downsides to this?  Like are the menus Jap only?  Can I flash it?

Other than the risk of dead pixels, other possible defects or even a DOA, there's nothing to worry about. Seriously, the dead pixel problem does happen, and if it happens you're pretty much stuck with it, or you'll have to return it and pay for the shipping. I got my DS Lite at the Japanese launch and got one stuck pixel, but I was lucky it's on the edge on the top screen, so I barely notice it.
