My interest in Wii, has resurrected my old gamecube.  I would like to buy the Wii but I'll wait til they are actually in stock.

Anyways, I am thinking about modding the gamecube in the meantime.  What is the best modchip to pick up nowadays.  I am looking at the Viper GC extreme or the Qoob Pro.   Is the Viper GC good enough, if I don't care about usb streaming or backing up discs?

I am digging through various forums for a current opinion, but I really can't find an answer.  Hoping there are some GC owners still out there

The ViperGC is what I use and it works just fine for playing back ups with no problems.

Did a little more digging and found a really cheap solution - xeno gc (~$20)

Modifies the dvd drive instead of the BIOS, so it allows backups to play...

I have a qoob PRO and love it. I like the Xeno GC idea but you can't run homebrew straight from the chip...

This brings up a question though... is it possible to install the Xeno AND the qoob so that they actually work together? I feel like this'd make everything easier.

Hey punter... you know that there Wii chips out, right? You wouldn't gain much from getting a GC chip if you plan to get a Wii.

I don't want both. I meant for the picky rich kids who want to be able to run the GC BIOS from the qoob and still be able to play backups.

But you realize that the Qoob plays back up right? Having a Qoob and a Xeno makes no sense.

just get the xenogc chip, it will do the job just fine.
